Police: DFW man killed crossing I-35 in Georgetown

GEORGETOWN, Texas (KXAN) — Southbound Interstate 35 near FM 972 in Georgetown re-opened Sunday morning following a deadly crash involving a pedestrian.

The crash happened about 8:45 p.m. Georgetown police say a vehicle hit Arthur Lee Clardy, 35, from Forest Hill, Texas while he attempted to cross the southbound lanes of the interstate.

According to witnesses, Clardy and his girlfriend were arguing while traveling from Dallas to Austin. When police tried to contact the couple, Clardy ran across I-35 and was struck by a vehicle as he tried to return back across the southbound lanes.

Southbound lanes of the interstate were closed until 1 a.m. Sunday while the Georgetown Police Department investigated.
