LONDON (KXAN) — The University of Texas alumni band and the James Bowie High School performed during London’s New Year’s Day parade.

The parade started at 6 a.m. central time Thursday, and both local bands marched by the camera within an hour.

The Longhorn Alumni band led the festivities with Big Bertha, the world’s largest drum. More than 500,000 people fill London’s streets each year to watch more than 10,000 performers from across the globe. Meanwhile, millions of people watch on TV.

13 bands from the U.S. flew across the Atlantic to perform in the parade.
