Shelby finds a forever home in Kyle

PFLUGERVILLE, Texas (KXAN) — A dog who has been at the Pflugerville Animal Shelter for more than a year has finally found her forever home after a Kyle man saw her featured on KXAN News last week.

On Tuesday, Shelby, an 8-year-old pit bull-terrier mix, was adopted by a family who fell in love with her after watching a story about how Shelby found a bison bone during a recent walk.

At Shelby’s new home, she will get to run and dig around on 20 acres.

“Shes’ going to live in Kyle on 20 acres and the best part is she’s going to get her own creek, so who knows what she’ll be able to dig up for them,” said Devin Cook, a volunteer at Pflugerville Animal Shelter.

“We’re definitely excited and the girls are excited,” said Shelby’s new owner Danielle Schardt. “She’ll just complete our home.”

The Schardt family not only adopted Shelby but also adopted a cat from the shelter the same day.
