Getting home safely on New Year’s Eve

After enjoying a night of bubbly and celebrating, you’ll want to plan now for safe way to get back home. The Austin Police Department will be enforcing a No-Refusal initiative starting at 9 p.m. and running until 5 a.m. on New Year’s Day.

Sober Monkeys
Here’s how it works, two drivers show up, one drives you home in your car and the other follows in their car.

Urban Scoot
Drivers pack a folding scooter into a protective case and place the scooter within the trunk of your vehicle and then scoot themselves to their next call once you’ve been safely delivered to your destination.

Designated, corporate and event drivers who drive your car safely or will be your personal driver for the evening.

The Spare Driver
A team of two capable driver will be dispatched to your location. One of the drivers will chauffeur you in your automobile and the other will follow.

Tipsy Tow service provides a complimentary ride and vehicle tow up to ten miles from the point of pickup to drivers who have consumed alcohol on New Year’s Eve and the Fourth of July. Tipsy Tow service is available to members and non-members.

CapMetro will be offering free rides after 6 p.m. on the MetroRail, MetroRapid and the Nightowl bus. The Nightowl bus will be running until 3:30 a.m. and the MetroRail and MetroRapid will be available until 2:30 a.m.
