China Star restaurant damaged in fire

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A fire Tuesday morning at a North Austin restaurant caused about $300,000 in damages.

Firefighters arrived at the China Star restaurant about 11 a.m. and found smoke pouring from the building. Officials said the restaurant’s kitchen, ventilation system and roof were heavily damaged in the fire.

It was caused by a failure of cooking equipment, fire investigators said.
