Woman accused in GoFundMe fraud faces new charge

Fallon Mouton

GEORGETOWN, Texas (KXAN) – The woman at the center of a KXAN Investigation into thousands of dollars missing from a GoFundMe.com account meant for a mourning family is now facing a felony theft charge.

Fallon Mouton was arrested on charges of online impersonation after Taylor Police say she set up the account to solicit donations for a family whose mother died shortly after giving birth. The family never saw the money and the GoFundMe.com account was emptied. Now, Mouton faces a charge of Theft in connection with the case.

According to the arrest affidavit, Mouton stole approximately $4,300 that was in the online crowd funding account.

As part of our special report into this case, Taylor Police told KXAN’s Lindsay Bramson that it’s unlikely any of the donors, or the family for whom it was raised, will ever see the money.
