Suspect in Round Rock chase, carjacking faces slew of charges

Gonzales, Rudy

ROUND ROCK, Texas (KXAN) – The man who’s dog was shot and killed by officers at the end of a police chase in Round Rock Sunday has outstanding warrants beyond the potential charges he faces in Williamson County.

Rudy Gonzales faces charges of evading arrest and attempted aggravated kidnapping. He had outstanding misdemeanor warrants from Dallas and Comal counties.

Gonzales was taken into custody after officers stunned him with a Taser as he attempted to steal a car with a family inside from a car wash.  His dog was let loose during the ordeal and lunged at an officer; a second officer shot and killed the dog. Police were attempting to stop Gonzales on suspicion driving a stolen vehicle when he fled. His vehicle crashed outside of the car wash.

Round Rock Police say more charges are possible. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
