AUSTIN (KXAN) – You’ll soon be able to fly to more places from Austin-Bergstrom Airport as Southwest Airlines announced new direct flights to Orange County and St. Louis.

The airline also announced its seasonal service between Austin-Portland and Austin-Cabo would increase to daily service.

Executives were in town Wednesday to talk about the new routes. They say adding flights out of Austin was a big priority going into next year.

“We have a strong history with the city of Austin. We’ve been here back since the 70s,” said Southwest Airlines Senior Director of Strategic Planning David Harvey. “We have grown with Central Texas and now that growth led to the opportunity to start nonstop service in 2015.”

Southwest expects the new flights to create jobs with the airline, at the Austin airport and even spur business along the new routes. Southwest has more flights out of ABIA than any other airline.
