Texas A&M considers naming building after Perry

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KXAN) — In a little more than a month, Governor Rick Perry will be out of office but we could find out later this week, if his name will live on at his alma mater.

Regents at Texas A&M University will meet later this week to talk about renaming the “Academic Building” on campus. If regents give the go ahead, the building would be known as “Governor Rick Perry ’72 Building.”

Our media partners at the Texas Tribune first reported the building, built 100 years ago, used to be the college’s library but now holds several department offices. It also holds a replica of the Liberty Bell.

His spokesperson says the Governor would be honored if regents make that decision.
