GEORGETOWN, Texas (KXAN) — Georgetown High School went into lockdown after a report of a man on campus with a handgun, according to police. Georgetown police found the person matching the suspect description at the GunsPlus store, which is just across the street from the school. However, he was wearing an empty handgun holster on his belt, and he did not have a gun. Police say he had been carrying a small rifle scope in his hand.

“The individual was not in possession of any weapons, and there is no threat to the school, students or community,” said Georgetown Police Captain Roland Waits.

The high school has since returned to its normal operations. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
