Woman jailed in WilCo after KXAN investigation into GoFundMe donations

Fallon Mouton

GEORGETOWN, Texas (KXAN) – The woman who police say stole money donated to a mourning family in Taylor is back in Texas and has been booked into the Williamson County Jail.

KXAN first introduced you to Fallon Mouton in an investigation last month. When police couldn’t find her, KXAN reporter Lindsay Bramson loaded up and went to Mouton’s last known address in Louisiana. We found her living in Abbeville. She told us she didn’t take the money but police said otherwise.

She was arrested two days after our investigation aired. She was extradited from Louisiana and booked into the Williamson County Jail Tuesday. She faces a charge of online impersonation. Her bond has been set at $10,000.

Police say she set up an account on GoFundMe.com that raised more than $4,000 for a family in Taylor after a woman died from complications of child birth. The money never made it to the family and the online account was empty.
