RED ROCK, Texas (KXAN) – A woman who was killed by her estranged husband Tuesday was on the phone with 911 dispatchers when he shot at her, police said.
The Bastrop County Sheriff’s Office say Patricia Thomas, 42, and killed by 50-year-old Richard Brown were found dead inside a Red Rock, Texas, home after an apparent murder-suicide.
The department released the 911 tapes Thursday. Police say Thomas also had a gun in her hand while she hid in her bathroom.
Thomas: “He’s shooting at me…Jesus Christ, he’s shooting at me.”
Dispatcher: “He’s shooting at you?”
Woman: “Yes, he just shot at me.”
Dispatcher: “Are you injured?”
Woman: “No, Luckily he’s got bad aim, but he’s coming back. Oh dear God, what do I do?”
The dispatcher said he heard gunshots, and seconds later he could not get back in touch with Thomas. Thomas made the 911 call at 9:49 p.m. Two deputies arrived at the home at 10:11 p.m. They had to use bolt cutters to gain entry onto the property.
When they arrived, they found both Thomas and Brown dead from apparent gunshot wounds. According to the 911 call log, Thomas was found dead with a pistol in her hand.
