AUSTIN (KXAN) — A man who police say robbed two Burger King’s in the past week is now in custody. According to Austin police, the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force arrested 34-year-old Leandre Morris III on Thursday evening at a Motel 6 in North Austin.

On Wednesday morning, Austin police said a man tried to rob the Burger King on East Riveside Road but the employee fought back and ended up getting shot twice. The employee is expected to survive his injuries.

Surveillance video managed to capture the suspect vehicle as it was leaving the scene. Detectives were able to trace the license plate back to Morris.

Authorities believe Morris is the same person who robbed another Burger King on I-35 near St. John’s Avenue last week. In both cases, Morris wore a presidential mask to hide his identity.

Morris is charged with two counts of aggravated robbery.
