BURNET, Texas (KXAN) — Burnet Consolidated Independent School District officials are working with police as they investigate a possible sexual assault that happened on the practice fields of the stadium complex during the home varsity football game on Nov. 7 against Lampasas High School.
BCISD Superintendent Keith McBurnett and Burnet Police Chief Paul Nelson released details about the incident that was reported around 11 p.m. that day. Officials say it is an isolated incident involving two teenagers. Authorities say given the nature of the relationship between the suspect and the victim, there is no threat to other students or the community.
Burnet police and district officials say they “are committed to maintaining an appropriate level of confidentiality,” given the nature of the allegation and the ages of those involved. Police reportedly have suspects but have made no arrests. Because this incident is an ongoing investigation, district officials — while cooperating fully with police — say they are not able comment any further.
