Pedernales Electric issues warning about phone scam

AUSTIN (KXAN) – Pedernales Electric Cooperative is warning members after two people recently received phone calls from people posing as PEC employees asking for payment. PEC says this a scam, and members should not give callers any personal information.

Both customers who reported the suspicious activity live in the Kyle area and say the call came from 512-394-9136.

If you are contacted by someone claiming to be a Pedernales employee, you can verify the call by contacting PEC at 1-888-554-4732. The call center is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.

If you have information about this scam, contact your local law enforcement agency.
