Free resource fair helps Austin students

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Harvest Fest offered free immunizations, dental and vision care for students. Attendees also enjoyed live music, food and games at the fair in East Austin Saturday.

In addition, more than 70 exhibitors provided housing, employment and insurance resources. Attendees could also register for the Austin Police Department’s Operation Blue Santa, a nonprofit organization that provides qualifying families a holiday meal and wrapped Christmas gifts for each child under age 14.

Austin Voices for Education and Blue Cross-Blue Shield co-sponsored Harvest Fest. Organizers expected between 1,500 and 2,000 people to attend. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
