Transformer trouble cuts power to 3,000 in Hudson Bend area

CALDWELL COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) — More than 3,000 Austin Energy customers likely woke up to blinking clocks Thursday morning. A power outage affected customers all in the Hudson Bend and Lakeway areas of Western Travis County.

Austin Energy spokesman Carlos Cordova says something tripped a transformer at a substation, causing the outage. At 4:15 a.m., he said crews were already at the site, working to restore service. They had the electricity flowing again by 4:50 a.m.
