Trail of Lights tickets go on sale

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Tickets for the Trail of Lights this season are now up for sale online. To help visitors plan their trip and ensure convenient access to Zilker, the Trail of Lights Foundation recommends purchasing any tickets and passes in advance for the evening they plan to attend the Trail. This includes weekend gate tickets, parking passes, shuttle passes and ZiP Fast Passes. Further details on each of these items can be found below.

“We want everyone to have a wonderful experience at the Trail of Lights on its 50th anniversary,” said Mario Espinoza, board president of the Trail of Lights Foundation. “The event is still free to attend during the week, so we encourage people to take advantage of that.”

While tickets are required to enter the Trail of Lights on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings for those ages 12 and older, admission to the Grand Opening on Dec. 7 and on weeknights remains free.

All tickets are available for purchase online at Gate tickets will also be available to purchase onsite at the Trail of Lights.

Gate Admission

  • $3 for ages 12 and older
  • Friday, Saturday and Sunday only (with the exception of Dec. 7, the Grand Opening night of the Trail, which is free for all)
  • Available for purchase online at and onsite at the Trail of Lights
  • Parking must be purchased separately
  • Those who purchase a weekend shuttle pass do not need to purchase a weekend gate admission

Parking Pass

Shuttle Pass

  • $4 per person on weekdays; $5 per person on weekends
  • Weekend shuttle passes also provide weekend gate access
  • Available for purchase online at
  • Shuttles begin running at 6:30 p.m. from each pickup location
  • A limited number of tickets will be available each night depending on capacity, so space is not guaranteed upon late arrival
  • Lap children ride free
  • Last shuttle pickup from designated parking locations is at 8:30 p.m.
  • The last shuttle leaves Zilker Park at 10:30 p.m. to take visitors back to parking locations

ZiP Fast Pass

  • $15 per person
  • Available for purchase online at
  • Must be purchased in advance for a specific night
  • Guarantees front-of-line access via a ZiP gate that opens 45 minutes early at 6:15 p.m. and access to the ZiP Lounge for food, drinks, heated bathrooms, seating and heaters. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
