Felony Lane Gang suspect arrested after day care, gym thefts

ROUND ROCK, Texas (KXAN) – A Florida woman who police say posed as women from across Central Texas as part of an identity theft ring that struck local day cares and gyms is now in police custody.

Colleen Adele Akers, 22, was taken into custody by members of the U.S. Marshal’s Lone Star and Florida Regional fugitive task forces. Police say Akers is a suspected member of the Felony Lane Gang, which steals purses and bags in places where women commonly leave them. After the gang steals the purses, checks, credit cards and IDs are used by gang members who pose as the victims.

According to Round Rock Police, Akers stole more than $28,000 from victims in Central Texas.

An investigation by police in Round Rock, Austin, Cedar Park and Bee Caves helped identify Akers as a suspect in the case.
