AUSTIN (KXAN) — The story of an old man enjoying dinner with an old picture of his late wife has gone viral. A couple of people happened to be at the In-N-Out Burger and noticed as the old man sat there, quietly enjoying his meal. The sepia picture of the lady on the table is his wife. The two were married for 55 years before she died five years ago, according to Imgur. Still, he celebrates her birthday and their anniversary, taking her picture everywhere and kissing her goodnight, according to BuzzFeed.

Madina Bashizadah uploaded the photo — that’s now gone viral — on Twitter on Oct. 22. There is another picture of the man that seems to be from another day, posted by another Twitter user.

Their love story is probably the more stunning part about this entire thing. According to the post on Imgur, they dated briefly when they were 17 and lost contact when he went to fight in WWII – though he thought about her the entire time he was there. He returned from war and spent 10 years searching for her.

Getting his hair cut one day, the man told the barber about his journey to find his love. The barber went to pick up the phone and called his daughter into the shop. Turns out: The daughter is the woman the old man had been searching for.

“I was a very rich man — not with money, but with love,” the man says today, according to Imgur. “People are like candles. At any moment a breeze can blow it out, so enjoy the light while you have it.” provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
