AUSTIN (KXAN) — A year after authorities issued a warrant for Kevin Patrick Stoeser, the tips appear to have dried up, according to the U.S. Marshals. Stoeser has not been seen since he walked way from the Austin Transitional Center in October 2013. That is a halfway house in Del Valle. Several months later, the Marshals added Stoeser to their 15 Most Wanted list. Stoeser admitted to child sex assault. When he escaped, marshals worried he would offend again.
At the time, U.S. Marshals Service Director Stacia A. Hylton said, “Stoeser is a malicious individual who abused innocent children on multiple occasions. His escape represents a threat to public safety.”
Hector Gomez, supervisory deputy U.S. Marshal in Texas, told KXAN they have almost no tips to go on right now: “They dried up.”
A few days ago, someone did say they spotted Stoeser in California. Marshals are following up on that lead. In June, Gomez told KXAN that they had several tips — but nothing credible.
The U.S. Marshals say Stoeser, 41, is 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs about 170 pounds. He has several tattoos: “Kayla” intertwined with barbed wire on his upper left arm; “Khaos” and “Stoeser” on his chest; barbed wire designs on his right arm; and a naked female on his right calf.
Stoeser has gone by aliases including Patrick Kevin Stoeser, Patrick Stoeser, Mark Johnson, Kevin Johnson and Jason Thompson.
If you think you saw Stoeser, contact the U.S. Marshal Service or call them at 1-800-336-0102. There is $25,000 reward for information leading to his capture.
