DFW AIRPORT, Texas (CNN/WFAA) — People at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport couldn’t believe what they were seeing as passengers had to subdue a man who started attacking another man because of the color of his shirt. The video starts off with an angry man taunting another man at a gate in Terminal C because he was wearing a pink shirt, and it escalated from there. As the man continued to shout, passengers started to approach him. Another passenger stepped in and asked the man what he was so upset about.
“Queers is what I am upset about!” the man yelled. “This [expletive] right here!”
The man then kicked and slapped the man in the pink shirt because he believed the man was gay. Other passengers immediately jumped in and tackled the man before DFW police officers arrived to arrest him. Even after police intervened, the man could be heard cursing at officers and complaining his handcuffs are too tight.
“You want me to tell you the reason why I did it?” the man said responding to a question from another person, “because this is America, that’s why. The same reason you get to live to breathe to walk black.”
Several passengers shot video as the man was picked up and taken away.
“That guy was crazy… absolutely crazy,” said Andrew Kennedy, the person who shot the footage in the video above.
“We saw a very troubled man,” Kennedy’s brother said. “We hope that he was under the influence of some kind of substance, because if he wasn’t and that’s his true personality, then he’s going to have a long road in front of him.”
A DFW spokeswoman confirmed the incident took place at the airport and that the man was arrested on Thursday. She would not comment any further and a police report that identifies the man has not been released.
