Man killed in New Braunfels hit-and-run

NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas (KXAN) — The New Braunfels Police Department is asking for help from the public in their search for a suspect responsible for a deadly hit-and-run in New Braunfels on Friday.

Police responded to the 1700 Block of South Seguin Ave. after they received several reports of a person walking in the middle of the road. Within minutes, more calls came in from people saying that a man was lying in the roadway and appeared to be have been hit by a vehicle.

Firefighters who showed up on scene found 42-year-old Richard Hafley unresponsive. He died at the scene.

Police are still searching for the person who hit Hafley. The truck involved may have front end damage and is missing the right side mirror and an antenna. Police said they believe it was a 2006 black Nissan Titan.
