Austin (KXAN)- Who’d have guessed! Eating a lot of candy isn’t the best way to stay healthy. Regardless, it’s Halloween. Here’s how to make sure you and your kids don’t over do it.
Carly Pollack with Nutritional Wisdom says it’s all about moderation. You knew that though. What she suggests as a way to make it work is to have a single piece of candy with lunch. Put one in your kids’ lunchbox so they stay the course.
Pollack says bargaining with your kids could also save them a few calories. Let them pick a set number of pieces out and then offer them a toy if they donate the leftover candy to needy children.
You can help curb the candy conundrum by buying healthy snacks to hand out to the ghouls and goblins, like nuts or corn-syrup free goodies. Or, you could give out those little spider rings or pennies.
