Crews called to fix striping on MoPac, again

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Driving down MoPac in West Austin may be a bit of a challenge, but officials say they’re working to fix the situation.

Several viewers have complained about the stripes along the expressway, especially near Ranch Road 2222 and Northland Drive.

Construction crews working on new toll lanes had to repaint lines, making the lanes a bit narrower. But in the right light, it’s just as easy to see the old lines.

Austin police say in the last year there have been 31 collisions at that exit alone.

Officials with the MoPac Improvement Project say they will go out again with special blackout paint on the old lines, which should help with glare.

The project is expected to be completed by next year.
