North Austin hotel fire forces evacuations

Austin (KXAN) – An overnight fire at a North Austin Motel 6 forced those renting a room to evacuate.

It happened around 11p.m. Friday at 8010 N I-35.

First responders with the Austin Fire Department said heavy fire was coming from the attic when they arrived. They discovered they fire was mostly on the outside of the building.

Several rooms were damaged, but AFD said the cause was unable to be found.

Everyone made it out safely.
