LAREDO, Texas (AP) — U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials say they have seized $1.5 million worth of heroin and cocaine from a man crossing the border into Texas. Officers at the Laredo Port of Entry said Wednesday the drugs were discovered on Monday at the Lincoln-Juarez International Bridge. They say 34 pounds of heroin and one pound of cocaine were found hidden in the SUV of a 50-year-old man from Iztapalapa, Mexico.

Border officials seized the drugs and car. The man was taken into custody and turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
