AUSTIN (KXAN) — University of Texas basketball player Martez Walker has withdrawn from the university, the school said Thursday.
Walker was first arrested last month on charges that he assaulted his girlfriend in his dorm room. He was suspended from the team after the incident.
According to the warrant for his arrest, Walker got angry when his girlfriend went out for drinks with a coworker. The two got into a verbal argument and she slapped him when he tried to keep her from leaving his San Jacinto Hall dorm room.
“She knew from previous fights with Walker that he was going to hit her, so she hid her face and went into a fetal position on the couch,” the affidavit reads.
According to the document, Walker then punched her four times in the ribs and dragged her by the arms and threw her out of his room.
A week later, Walker was arrested again for trespassing. Those charges stemmed from his initial arrest. According to court documents, university president William Powers sent Walker a letter at that time notifying him that he was banned from all UT property. When UT Police went to San Jacinto Dormitory and found Walker in a room, he was subsequently arrested.
