KINGSLAND, Texas (KXAN) — A 59-year-old woman was killed Wednesday after she walked in front of a car along RM 1431 in Kingsland, according to Department of Public Safety officials.

Niruben Bhakta, of Kingsland, was hit by a Ford Mustang traveling east along the roadway. Troopers say her body hit the drivers side windshield and then continued over the car. She died at the scene.

The 21-year-old driver was treated and released after the crash. An 18-year-old passenger was not injured.

DPS did not release any further details about the collision.
