Police: Suspects try to rob officer in Houston

HOUSTON (AP) — Houston police are searching for two people who they say tried to rob and shoot an off-duty police officer outside of an Olive Garden restaurant. A department spokesman tells KPRC-TV that one of the suspects fired five to eight shots at the officer on Saturday night in southwest Houston.

Police say the officer was parked and in his car when two people approached him and demanded his wallet. They say the officer refused and the suspect started shooting. The officer wasn’t injured. It’s unclear if he was wearing a uniform or in a marked police car.

The suspects escaped.
