AUSTIN (KXAN) — As we inch closer to Halloween, many are likely brushing up on their horror films – many of them classics. And while we’re familiar with the eerie music playing in the background at the height of a suspense scene, did you ever stop to think about what makes those spooky sounds?

You might want to close your eyes for the full effect of the video above, but it’s the instrument that we’ve probably never seen before or thought about. The trending video says this is the instrument that produces the chilling, goosebump-inducing sounds in horror movies.
