North Austin bank smash-and-grab attempt ends in arrest

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin police say a burglar crashed a car into a bank in North Austin, with the intent to steal money. Instead, the driver got hurt, and took a trip to jail. Officers responded to the wreck before 4 a.m. at the Wells Fargo Bank branch on North Interstate 35 near Parmer Lane. They took the driver to a hospital for evaluation and then arrested him.

Burglary detectives are processing evidence at the bank.
