ROUND ROCK, Texas (KXAN) — A substitute teacher involved in an incident at Deerpark Middle School has been banned from accepting substitute jobs in the Round Rock Independent School District, according to spokeswoman JoyLynn Occhiuzzi. Williamson County Sheriff’s officials say the teacher is being accused of hitting a student, but further details were limited.

“There was a situation with a substitute teacher at Deerpark MS earlier this week,” was all Occhiuzzi would say.

Yu was subsequently removed from the district’s “active” substitute list. Substitutes on the inactive list are prohibited from accepting an opening. The investigation is being handled by the school resource officer assigned to the school, the sheriff’s office said. No charges have been filed at this time.

“Since it’s an active investigation, we are unable to discuss the details,” said Occhiuzzi.

RRISD officials also say that a letter to parents typically would not be sent out regarding this type of situation.
