SAN MARCOS, Texas (KXAN) — An arrest warrant has been issued for a man who police say tried to abduct a girl earlier this month from the San Marcos Walmart.
Tenencio Moraga III, who also goes by Dennis, reportedly approached an 11-year-old girl on Sept. 7 as she shopped at the store with her father and 10-year-old sister. Police say Moraga promised the girl free toys and she started to walk with him towards an exit. The younger sister followed along and called back to her dad saying they were going to get free toys. When the father approached the 31-year-old, Moraga quickly left the store, police said.
Authorities say Moraga is currently homeless but has family in San Marcos and Austin and has been known to frequent the Southside Community Center in San Marcos. He has not been seen since surveillance photos were released to area news outlets on Sept. 11, police added.
Moraga is wanted on attempted kidnapping charges. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call the San Marcos Police Department at 512-753-2108 or contact Crime Stoppers.
