LLANO COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) – A man who police say tried to run down a Central Texas police chief is still on the run after evading eleven different law enforcement agencies during a search Monday. Now, deputies are asking you to be on the look out for him.
The Llano County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Rangers are searching for 36-year-old Rocky Drew McIntosh after they say he threw his truck into reverse and smashed into Sunrise Beach Police Chief Laurie Brock’s patrol car during an attempted traffic stop Sunday morning.
Deputies say the truck McIntosh was driving was stolen Saturday from a convenience store on Ranch Road 1431 in Kingsland. Shortly afterward, Chief Brock spotted the car along Ranch Road 2233 near County Road 316. That’s deputies say McIntosh hit Chief Brock’s vehicle. Brock fired a single shot at the truck before it sped away.
Later, Llano County Constable found the truck hidden in brush on County Road 316. Deputies say they determined McIntosh left on foot.
Monday morning, a rancher called 911 to report a trespasser on his land along County Road 309. The suspect’s description matched McIntosh’s, which prompted a large-scale search for the wanted man.
Deputies, rangers and specialized search teams searched by air and ground but were unable to find McIntosh. Now, they are asking the public to call 911 if he is spotted. McIntosh is described as a white man with brown hair, who stands 6-feet tall and weighs 200 lbs.
Chief Brock was treated and released at a local hospital.
