Lakes reopen after ban

Areas closed after flooding.

The Austin Fire Department will reopen Lady Bird Lake and Barton Creek to watercraft at noon on Saturday.

Lake Austin, which was closed while emergency teams searched for missing Travis County Sheriffs Deputy Jessica Hollis, reopened Friday evening.

Barton Springs Pool remains closed due to the flooding while crews remove debris from the swimming area.

Officials encourage people taking advantage of Barton Creek and Lady Bird lake to be cautious.

  • Water levels are elevated and water current may be quicker than usual.
  • Recent floods have washed debris into lakes and streams.
  • Recent floods may have altered waterway banks and shore areas.
