AUSTIN (KXAN) — Funeral arrangements have been made for a Travis County sheriff’s deputy whose body was recovered from Lake Austin Friday afternoon. Senior Deputy Jessica Hollis was killed after she was swept away while checking a low water crossing Thursday morning in the 3400 block of Fritz Hughes Park Road.

Visitation for Deputy Hollis will be Tuesday, September 23 from 6-9 p.m. at Cook-Walden Capital Parks. The funeral home is located at 14501 North Interstate 35 in Pflugerville.

Hollis’ funeral service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday at Hill Country Bible Church, located at 12124 Ranch Road 620 N. A procession will then escort Hollis’ body to Cook-Walden Capitol Parks for interment and full police honors.

“I told (Hollis’ family) we would bring her home,” Travis County Sheriff Greg Hamilton said as his eyes filled with tears Friday, “but we wanted to bring her home alive. She had been out there in that water for a while. She’s back home now and not out there by herself anymore.”

Hamilton said Hollis was swept out of the creek she was inspecting and into Lake Austin. Crews located her vehicle shortly after it went into the water, but they were unable to find her body until Friday afternoon..
