AUSTIN (KXAN) – Years of waiting and wondering are finally over for a Round Rock family after their dog was found safe in Indianapolis. Grisel Jaramillo’s dog Bailey snuck out her front door six years ago and a jogger said he saw someone pick the Yorkshire terrier up.
“I have a 9-year-old, 6-year-old and a 19-month-old baby, and I had the dog, before I had them all,” she told WISH-TV.
On Tuesday, Jaramillo was sitting in class when she received a phone call from her father.
“My dad says to me…’hold on to your horses,’ Dad, just tell me,” she recalled. “‘We found Bailey.'”
Bailey, who was microchipped, had been found by a woman in Indianapolis and was taken to a pet hospital where he was identified.
“How important it was that he was microchiped,” Jaramillo said. “If it hadn’t been for that, I would not be getting the same news I’m getting right now.”
The Jaramillos are working to reunite with Bailey. In the meantime, an animal hospital is caring for him. Grisel does not know where her beloved dog has been or how he ended up in Indiana. She is planning a party to celebrate Bailey’s return.
