Lake Austin closed during search for deputy

AUSTIN (KXAN) – Until further notice, Lake Austin is closed to all boating traffic from Mansfield Dam to Tom Miller Dam while the search continues for missing Travis County Sheriff’s Deputy.

The deputy, who hasn’t been identified by the sheriff’s office, was checking low water crossing at 3400 block of Fritz Hughes Park Road. at 1:25 a.m. when she called in using her radio to say she was being swept away in the water.

More than 90 people joined the search by foot, air and by boat Thursday.
