Racers put on stilettos to raise breast cancer awareness

AUSTIN (KXAN) – Racers put on their high heels Saturday morning and hit the street at the Triangle to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer.

The Stiletto Stampede is a 100-yard high heel dash that seeks to encourage and empower women and men under the age of 40 to become knowledgeable about breast cancer and breast health. KXAN was a proud sponsor and evening anchor Shannon Wolfson emceed the sixth annual event.

There were several different heats, including:

  • The Stiletto Stampede – The original 100-yard dash in heels.
  • The Survivor Stampede – Honoring all breast cancer survivors.
  • The Pooch Scooch – Man’s best friend got in on the fun
  • The Stroller Stampede
  • The Men’s Heat – Men supported the cause. Some even wore heels.
  • The Boot Scoot

The event benefited the Seton Breast Care Center and Boob Camp, a collection of free breast cancer wellness programs designed to help facilitate the physical, social and emotional aspects of breast cancer recovery in the Austin community.
