BASTROP, Texas (KXAN) — The ex-boy scout leader who is accused of using a hidden camera to record adults and children showering at a Central Texas Boy Scout camp will be going to trial.
A grand jury handed down the indictment Tuesday against Cory Cason.
The Scouts fired him after Bastrop County deputies say Cason admitted to hiding the camera during a June 20 through June 22 session at Camp Tom Wooten. Cason had been a counselor since 2006.
“He admitted to the whole thing,” investigator Vance Weltner said during an interview in July. “He admitted to setting it up, and said he destroyed the footage after viewing it each night.”
Detectives said they seized Cason’s laptop, two hard drives, two cellphones and a GoPro camera. They were able to see the recordings taken from the shower showing two boys and two adult men showering, according to an arrest affidavit. They were also able to recover numerous images of naked boys and girls that Cason downloaded from a nudist website, the document said.
