LAKE CHARLES, La. (KXAN) — Authorities in Louisiana have arrested the man suspected of robbing HEB stores in Austin and Bastrop. US Marshals arrested Jeremy Clarke Brock, 47, after Lone Star Fugitive Task Force members determined he had fled to Lake Charles. Marshals say they found his car parked at the Isle of Capri Casino and were able to track down which room he was staying in. He was arrested without incident.
According to authorities, when he was arrested he said, “Y’all got me.”
An arrest warrant was issued last week for Brock after authorities, who described him as having a beer belly, received an anonymous tip.
Austin police were first called to the H-E-B store at Ranch Road 620 and Anderson Mill Road on Aug. 15 after the robber passed a note demanding money to a customer service counter employee. The cashier said the man motioned towards his waistband as if he had a weapon, according to the affidavit.
Authorities later received a tip directing them to Brock, who drives a car similar to the one seen in surveillance pictures. Further investigation showed Brock pawned several items using his driver’s license the day before the robbery. Video at that store showed Brock driving up in a car matching the one seen at the H-E-B, the document added. A neighbor also identified Brock as the man in the surveillance picture.
Bastrop police believe Brock is also responsible for a robbery at an H-E-B store in that city on Aug. 27.
