Williamson County man charged with intoxication manslaughter

GEORGETOWN, Texas (KXAN) — A man has been charged with intoxication manslaughter and aggravated assault following a deadly crash Aug. 23 in Williamson County. Police say Ramiro Luna Juarez, 32, was driving a truck west along FM 971 near Heritage Hollow Road about 4:30 p.m. when he left the road, over-corrected, and crashed into a car heading east.

The crash killed 21-year-old Marco A. Juarez Luna, who was ejected from the passenger seat of the truck. He died at the scene. Juarez and the driver of the car, Antonio Castellanos, were both taken to Seton Medical Center in Round Rock and treated for injuries. Castellanos fractured several bones in the crash, according to an arrest affidavit.

Police said they found an empty beer can inside the pickup and officers at the hospital said Juarez smelled of alcohol. He told officers he started drinking a 12-pack of beer around noon that day, the document said.

He was being held on $500,000 bond in the Williamson County Jail. He was previously charged in 2007 with driving while intoxicated in Georgetown.
