Firefighters rescue mountain lion cubs in wildfire

MONTANA (CNN/Bitterroot National Forest Helitack) — In Montana, firefighters rescued two mountain lion cubs caught in a wildfire. Their fur is singed, but they appear to be doing OK.

Wildfire crews in the Bitterroot National Forest spotted the cubs under a burning log and doused them with water. Their mother was not found.

The Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks agency says the tiny cubs are less than 3 weeks old. They’re now at a wildlife rehabilitation center in Helena. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
