KINGSLAND, Texas (KXAN) — Police have charged a woman with murder in the death of a 23-year-old Kingsland, Texas, man.

Llano County deputies arrived at the home in the 200 block of McGee Trail about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday and found Jose Mario Hernandez dead inside the home. Texas Rangers and a State Fire Marshall were also called to the home to help with the investigation.

Kathryn Louise Preston, 46, was taken into custody and Llano County authorities charged her Wednesday with first-degree murder. She was booked into the Llano County Jail and bond was set at $500,000.

Police say that Preston and Hernandez had been in a relationship for at least two years. Investigators said they are still sifting through evidence and are in the process of interviewing witnesses. An autopsy on the man was scheduled for Wednesday at the Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
