Big Tex gets new threads

DALLAS (NBC/KXAS) — Big Tex has some new clothes. The State Fair of Texas unveiled his clothes at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas earlier Tuesday. You can see the navy blue shirt has patches of red and white stars, just like the state flag.

Big Tex’s new clothes come nearly two years after he went up in flames. Caused by an electrical problem, the Texas State Fair icon caught fire Oct. 19, 2012, and burned the statue almost to a giant skeleton.

Big Tex will be wearing his new duds when he moves into fair park on Sept. 19. The state fair starts Sept. 26. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
