Old basement swallows fire truck in sinkhole

GREENSBURG, Ken. (NBC/WAVE) — The back end of a fire truck was swallowed up by a big hole in the ground in Greensburg, Ken. While the fire truck is not one of those huge ladder trucks, it was heavy enough to cause the pavement to crack and open up underneath it Sunday afternoon.

It turns out the parking lot of a car dealership was paved over on top of where a building used to stand. The previous building had a basement that was never fully filled-in, and that created the cavity that was finally exposed by the fire truck.
