AUSTIN (KXAN) – The so-called legal “Dream Team” representing Texas Gov. Rick Perry in the criminal charges against him is getting a bi-partisan upgrade with the addition of the man who defended Pres. Bill Clinton and vice president Al Gore.
Mark Fabiani served as special council to Clinton and as a deputy campaign manager for Al Gore’s presidential campaign joins Tony Buzbee, Ben Ginsberg, Tom Phillips, Bobby Burchfield and David Botsford.
“I’m proud to join Gov. Perry’s outstanding team which has been assembled to fight back against this attack on the rule of law,” Mark Fabiani said. “As we move forward to protect the Texas Constitution and the First Amendment rights of any governor, I am confident this prosecution will be revealed to be contrary to the law and wholly meritless.”
Fabiani and Ginsberg previously fought on opposite teams during the ballot recount in the 2000 presidential election where Fabiani worked for Gore and Ginsberg worked for George W. Bush.
Fabiani earned the nickname “Master of Disaster” through his work on the Clinton administration and the Gore presidential bid. He has since published a book on crisis planning under the same name.
