Man killed in South Congress crash identified

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Investigators are still working to determine why a man crashed into the back of two cars stopped at a light on South Congress on Sunday.

Michael Wayne Dunn Jr., 33, was driving a GMC 15000 truck about 6 a.m. near Woodward Street and was straddling the northbound lane lines when he hit a Dodge Ram and Hyundai Sonata, police said. Dunn died at the scene.

The drivers of the other two cars were taken to University Medical Center Brackenridge. Their injuries were not life threatening.

This was Austin’s 35th deadly traffic crash and the 42nd death of 2014. At this time in 2013, there were 52 deadly crashes and 53 deaths.
