DALLAS (KXAS) – A flight from Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport on its way to San Diego had to make an emergency landing in Phoenix Sunday afternoon due to a security threat.

Officials with American Airlines told NBC DFW that flight 362 landed safely at Phoneix Sky Harbor Airport shortly after 1:30 p.m. CT. 179 passengers and six crew members were onboard.

Federal authorities met the plane upon landing.  Authorities have not released what type of threat prompted the diversion.
